The President and Supreme
Commander of the Indian Armed Forces Shri Pranab Mukherjeeconferred fourteen Shaurya Chakras to Armed Forces
Personnel for displaying conspicuous gallantry, indomitable courage and extreme
devotion to duty at a solemn ceremony at the ashtrapatiBhawan here
today. Out of fourteen, three Shaurya Chakras were awarded posthumously. The atmosphere in Darbar Hall of Rastrapati Bhavan werepoignant and filled with emotions when the President
posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakras to the wives of these three defence
personnel.
The President also conferred eighteen Param Vishisht Seva Medals, two Uttam Yudh SevaMedal, two Bar to Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and seventeenAti Vishisht Seva Medals to senior officers of
the Armed Forces for distinguished service of an exceptional order.
