 Representatives of a total of 18 Postal Circles across the country are participating Chess Tournament.


All India Postal Chess Tournament Underway in Guwahati




GUWAHATI: The Assam Circle Postal Sports Board is hosting the 36th version of the All India Postal Chess Tournament 2022-23. The event is being organized in the Auditorium of Meghdoot Bhawan in Guwahati. It was flagged off today, December 5 and will continue till December 11. The Chief Postmaster General of the Assam Circle presided over the Inauguration function hosted on the morning of 05th Dec.



Representatives of a total of 18 Postal Circles across the country are participating in this Chess Tournament. They are Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamilnadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. A total of 108 players from all over India are participating in the chess tournament under these 18 postal circles of the country

Chief Arbiter Monimala Sinha, Deputy Arbiter Pranab Kumar Nath, Homen Chandra Rabha and Puja Dhar, Observer and Technical Delegate-1 Narendra Shrimali and Technical Delegate R Balakrishna were present for the inaugural event. The event is conducted under the leadership of the Chief Post Master General of the Assam Circle.

Niranjan Kalita, Assistant Director of Sports Board mentioned this event as an excellent opportunity for the employees of India Post to flex their mental muscles. He added that this event is hosted in different locations of the country every year. A manager-level meeting was also conducted to ensure the smooth conduct of this event on Sunday.
