GORAKHPUR: On Thursday, Ashutosh
Tripathi, chief post master general, UP circle visited the city and announced
core banking facility and installation of 13 ATMs in the district.
While talking to reporters, Tripathi
said, "We are launching core banking facilities in the district from the
next month. The entire eastern UP sector is divided into 4 divisions including
Gorakhpur, Balia, Azamgarh and Deoria. The core banking work will be initiated
in these four areas and later in other districts of the area. The system will
work on the lines of nationalised banks and account holder will get transaction
message on their mobile phones."
"At present, we have 2 crore
and 95 lakh account holders in UP and we are all set to enhance the quality of
service to facilitate our customers. We have marked 22 post offices at present
and by the next month we'll mark 73 post offices for initiating core banking
facility. Around 48 lakh accounts have been opened in Gorakhpur zone whereas 12
lakh accounts have been opened in Gorakhpur division, including Gorakhpur and
Maharajganj," he added.
