Ex-gratia amount for CAPF personnel has been increased on the recommendations of the 7^th Pay Commission w.e.f. 01/01/2016

Ex-gratia amount for CAPF personnel

The amount of ex-gratia lump sum compensation available to the families of Central Government Civilian employees, who die in the performance of their bona fide official duties under various circumstances, has been increased on the recommendations of the 7^th Pay Commission w.e.f. 01/01/2016 vide DoP&PW OM No.38/37/2016-P&PW(A)(i) dated 04/08/2016, as under:

Death occurring due to accidents in course of performance of duties.	10 lakh	25 lakh
Death in the course of performance of duties attributed to acts of violence by terrorists, anti social elements etc.	10 lakh	25 lakh
Death occurring in border skirmishes and action against militants, terrorists, extremists, sea pirates.	15 lakh	35 lakh
Death occurring while on duty in the specified high altitude, unaccessible border posts, etc. on account of natural disasters, extreme weather conditions.	15 lakh	35 lakh
Death occurring during enemy action in war or such war like engagements, which are specifically notified by Ministry of Defence and death occurring during evacuation of Indian Nationals from a war-torn zone in foreign country.	-	45 lakh

The rate of ex-gratia lump sum compensation for 100 percent disability to CAPFs & Assam Rifles personnel, who are disabled in the performance of their bonafide official duty under various circumstances and are boarded out from service on account of disability attributable to aggravated in service, has been revised vide this Ministry OM No.27011/64/2010-R&W (Part) dated 07/06/2017 from Rs. 09 lakhs to Rs. 20 lakhs w.e.f 01/01/2016. The 7^th CPC has recommended a common regime of Risk and Hardship Allowance for Army and CAPFs which has been accepted by the Government. 

This was stated by the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju in a written reply to question by Shri Bahadur Singh Koli in the Lok Sabha today.
